At lunchtime and late in the evening, the Hide & Seek Bar takes the culinary lead at Giardino Ascona. It offers an especially nonchalant setting: The lounge atmosphere by the water lily pond allows you to forget the outside world for a moment. The Lago restaurant in Minusio
The creations of the Lago restaurant are as fresh and light as the hotel itself. They are influenced by the close proximity to Italy but are nevertheless entirely in tune with modern trends. Andreas Marquardt, Executive Chef at the Lago restaurant, caters exclusively to the needs of his guests – offering a refreshing new take on traditional cuisine. Here, both meat eaters and passionate vegetarians get their money’s worth in equal measure. The culinary possibilities know no boundaries at the Lago restaurant. The same is true of the restaurant itself – a space that is flooded with light and blends seamlessly into the large lakeside terrace. Or the cosmopolitan Roof Lounge with its stunning vistas. Guests won’t be able to get enough of the view.

His red seitan curry, for example, served with jasmine rice, coriander and roasted nuts, is exquisite. The selection and quality of the ingredients are key. This is also true for the meat: the steaks are prepared in an 800°C infrared oven, staying juicy on the inside and nicely crispy on the outside. Vegetarians can also enjoy a wide range of healthy and delicious side dishes, such as his peperonata with lemon thyme. Other fantastic dishes include risotto with a garden-herb pesto, sautéed king prawns and Maggia pepper, and grilled octopus with a passion-fruit vinaigrette, samphire, capers and shallots.
